NSU expels 7 cadres for two years

Kathmandu, March 17:

The central committee meeting of the NSU close to NC today formed a committee to probe into the incident of vandalism of the union’s central office yesterday.

The union also expelled seven of its cadres for two years on suspicion of their involvement in the incident.

The expelled are Bikash Koirala, Ramesh Karki, Lilaballav Dahal, Ramesh Uprety, Subodh Acharya, Anil Khanal and Shivraj Phagu, a press release issued by the union said.

The union also decided to take action against cadres who had joined royalist students in the recently held Free Student’s Union polls.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the eight student unions today directed the student wings of Nepali Congress and NC-D to take action against their cadres who have joined hands with the student wing of the Nepal Praja Parishad and the National Democratic Students Union (NDSU) to fight against the ANNFSU in the FSU elections slated for tomorrow at the Baneshwor Multiple Campus (BMC).

The two Nepal Students’ Unions, one affiliated to NC and the other to NC-D, have joined hands with the National Democratic Students Union and Praja Parishad students against ANNFSU, breaching the earlier agreement between the eight student unions not to join hands with the students who are loyal to the royal takeover.

The FSU elections at the campus were postponed when a group of students resorted to vandalism and clash on February 28.

The eight student unions had decided to make alliance between the agitating student unions against the students loyal to the royal takeover in the FSU elections, as part of their joint fight against autocracy. A panel headed by NSU’s LB Karki is fighting against the ANNFSU panel headed by Nabina Lama at the Campus.

The eight student unions demanded action against the guilty of killing a school principal in Nepalgunj two days ago. They also demanded damages to the family of the victim killed in a shoot-out in an ambulance in Pokhara.
