NSU holds protests in colleges

Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) affiliated to the Nepali Congress today organised protest programmes at various campuses in the Kathmandu Valley to press the authorities to meet their demands.
NSU’s Patan Campus unit held a protest rally in the campus, chanting slogans against the February 1 royal move. They also submitted a 33-point charter of demands to campus chief Murari Mohan Shrestha. Shrestha assured the students their demands would be met at the earliest.
Likewise, Saraswati Multiple Campus unit of the NSU locked the campus chief’s office, demanding the fulfilment of their seven-point demands. The students also protested against alleged irregularities in the distribution of scholarship.
Their demands include restoration of democracy, removal of security personal from all the campus premises, release of all the political detainees, probe into Mahendranagar shoot-out, and release of political leaders forcefully detained by RCCC, among others.
The NSU unit of Saraswati Campus today organised a torch rally to press for the fulfilment of their demands. The rally started from Kapurdhara and ended at Samkhushi.
Meanwhile, seven student unions’ Saraswati Campus unit also announced to support the protest rally called by the political parties on May 22 by burning effigy of the Royal move along with distribution of pamphlets for democracy on May 25.
