NTEU protests Aryal’s appointment

KATHMANDU: Employees of Nepal Television protested the cabinet’s decision of appointing Kundan Aryal as the chairman of Nepal Television with executive powers on Thursday.

Irate employees affiliated to Nepal Television Employees Union (NTEU) padlocked the entrances to prevent Aryal from entering his office. The employees demanded the appointment of a senior and permanent journalist to the post rather than Aryal since Aryal’s appointment was against the existing practices. Aryal was appointed as the chairman by Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.
