NWSC employees seek Maoist help

Kathmandu, January 6:

The joint struggle committee of Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NWSC) Employee Associations today handed over a memorandum to a CPN-Maoist leader to protest against the recently passed Bill to Amend the NWSC Act.

The employees are seeking political support to stop the verification of the bill passed on Wednesday.

The bill needs to be verified by the Speaker of the House of the Representatives to become an Act.

“We handed over the memorandum to Maoist leader Ananta. He has responded positively to our protest,” said Raj Kumar Thapa, the coordinator of the committee, quoting the Maoist leader.

The committee is going to hand over a memorandum to political parties urging the leaders to do a rethink on the recently passed bill.

“We are going to meet other party leaders and hand over memorandum to them on Sunday. We believe that there is still time to correct the decision and help save NWSC from falling into foreign hands,” said Thapa.
