NWSC staffers’ strike on

Kathmandu, January 16:

The meeting between a delegation of the Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NWSC) Employees’ Association and Minister for Physical Planning and Works Gopal Man Shrestha today could not reach any conclusion concerning the NWSC employees demands.

“We met the minister this morning but we could not reach any conclusion,” said Rajkumar Thapa, secretary of the NWSC employees’ joint struggle committee. The NWSC staffers are on a warpath since December 17 after the House of Representatives passed the Bill to Amend NWSC Act, which has enabled the government to hand over the NWSC’s management to a foreign party to manage water distribution in the Valley.

Meanwhile, the joint struggle committee today announced its further protest plans. The employees will block pipelines supplying water to Ministers’ quarter and Singha Durbar infinitely.
