KATHMANDU: US President Barack Obama has proposed Scott H DeLisi, a native of Minnesota State, as the new ambassador to Nepal.

The date of the hearing over his appointment has not been finalised yet, said a press statement issued by the US Embassy here in Kathmandu, today.

Career diplomat DeLisi has been serving as an employee in the State Department´s Bureau of Human Resources as Director of Career Development and Assignments, where he has played a key role in the staffing of embassies, according to the statement.

He has served as Director for Southern African Affairs, Vice Counsel for the Embassy in India, Chief of Political Section in Sri Lanka, in addition to other postings in Madagascar and Pakistan, the statement added.
