PM Oli, CPN MC Chair Dahal direct MPs to work for unity and prosperity

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and CPN Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal of the left alliance, which remains in majority at the federal parliament, have urged the Members of Parliament (MPs) from their parties to emerge as representatives who emphasise party unity and country's prosperity.

Addressing the joint meeting of the MPs of CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre at the parliament building in New Baneshwar today, the two leaders advised the members to join in the new political era for good governance, development, prosperity and stability.

Prime Minister Oli has stressed the need to work with a strong morale to uplift the country from the state of under-development. Issuing directives at the joint meeting, he said that unification between the two parties had reached its final phase and the new party should work to empower and unify the people.

Stating that the new government would take the support and respect of the opposition in developing the country, the PM said the government will always be in the look-out for good and capable people. "Please carry files for the development of the country, and not for transfers and promotions," he told the MPs.

Likewise, CPN MC Chair Dahal said the joint meeting of the parliamentary parties was being held as a background to the party unification and announced that there will soon be only one parliamentary party.

Stating that uniting the people in just 18 months through the common election agenda and candidates was a university in itself in terms of the learning curve, Chairman Dahal added, "We will now move ahead toward scientific socialism by developing national capital."

On the occasion, UML leader and former Speaker Subas Nembang also urged the MPs to play effective roles considering the parliamentary rule and conduct.

There are a total of 214 members of the two parties in the federal parliament.
