Motorcyclist killed, pillion rider injured in Nepaltar road accident

KATHMANDU: A person died and another sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were travelling on met with an accident in Tarakeshwar Municipality-11 of Kathmandu district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as motorcyclist Chandra Prakash Moktan (26) of Tanti Rural Municipality-6 in Nuwakot district, currently residing in Kavresthali of Kathmandu, and injured as pillion rider Milan Pariyar (22) of Khotang district, currently residing in Baniyatar of Kathmandu.

According to police, the incident occurred when the motorcycle (Ba 79 Pa 2985) en route from Baipas to Sheshmati lost its control and fell on the road while trying to avert hitting the pedestrian crossing the road at Nepaltar. Subsequently, the rear tyre of the bus (Ba 2616) coming from the opposite direction ran over the motorcycle riders, critically injuring them yesterday.

The critically injured Moktan was rushed to Grande Hospital where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, while injured Pariyar is undergoing treatment at National Trauma Centre, Mahankal, informed police.

Meanwhile, police have impounded both vehicles and detained the driver of the bus for further investigation, said police.
