One held for swindling govt job aspirants of thousands of rupees

KATHMANDU: A man has been nabbed for his alleged involvement in defrauding at least four persons assuring them of government jobs.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Friday arrested Raj Kumar Chaulagain (42), from Goldhunga, Tarakeshwor Municipality-3, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, for swindling the government job aspirants of thousands of rupees.

Recently, he took away Rs 400,000 from Nilima Maharjan and Aakriti Dangol from Baluwatar of the Capital promising the women that he would help them land as kharidars (non-gazetted second class officers) at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

After Chaulagain went out of contact, the victim duo had filed a complaint with police.

Police said Chaulagain was arrested in February this year in a similar case and was later released on bail.

Police investigations revealed that he had swindled Srishti Ranjit from KMC-16 of Rs 25,000 and Sudeep Pandey from Hetaunda-4 of Makawanpur of Rs 171,500 promising them of government jobs at different agencies.

The suspect has been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigations and actions.
