One held for swindling Hong Kong job aspirants
KATHMANDU: Police on Monday nabbed a woman on charge of swindling people aspiring to go abroad with fake promises.
Laxmi Devi BK (36) of Mehpi, KMC-26 was arrested for swindling Shiva Lal Shrestha (24) of Pangtang-4 of Sindhupalchok district and Sarita Magar (28) of Kamalamai-14 of Sindhuli district of 1,300,000 each assuring them of lucrative jobs in Hong Kong.
The duo said that they were left in lurch for one month in China and returned Nepal on their own expenses.
After the victims knew that they were cheated, they filed a joint complaint at the Metropolitan Police Crime Divison (MPCD).
Based on the complaint, a police team deployed from the MPCD started a manhunt and nabbed BK, also the operator of the Honestly International Human Reserch Consultancy Pvt.Ltd, from Tokha of the Capital yesterday.
Police said that she along with another person had also swindled many persons in the past with fake promises of sending them to Australia and other countries for lucrative jobs.
