KATHMANDU: A youth died and eight other persons sustained injuries after a passenger vehicle turned turtle at Thali near the Gokarna Resort, of Kageshwari Muncipality-7, on the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, on Thursday.

According to police, the fatal accident took place after the microbus with registration number Ba 1 Ja 9729 witnessed brake failure while trying to save a motorcyle.

The deceased has been identified as Binod Rana (24), a local resident.

The injured were rushed to Shankarapur Hospital in Jorpati for treatment. Critically injured in the incident, Rana breathed his last at the hospital, police said.

The microbus driver fled the site after the incident. Police said they are looking for him.
