Only nine local levels waiting to announce election results

KATHMANDU: Out of 334 local levels where the second phase of local level elections were held on June 28, final results of vote counting have been announced at 325 levels.

According to Election Commission spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma, the poll results have been completed at all levels of 30 districts of three provinces (at 132 levels of Province No. 1, at 109 levels of Province no. 5 and at 85 levels of Province no. 7) while the vote counting of nine levels of five districts is underway.

As per the latest poll result updates, the CPN-UML has become victorious at 146 levels, NC has secured wins at 118 levels while the CPN Maoist Centre has won the elections at 38 levels. Likewise, the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) has registered victory at eight levels, the Democratic Forum Nepal ( DFN) at six levels, Rastriya Prajatantra Party ( RPP) at four and Rastriya Janamorcha at two levels.

Likewise, three independent candidates have secured their victory to the posts of mayor/ chairperson.

Likewise, the UML has won the posts of deputy mayor and vice chairperson at 170 levels, NC at 100 levels and MC has won the election for this post at 38 levels.Similarly, FSFN has emerged victorious at seven levels, NDF at six levels, Rastriya Janamorcha at two and RPP at two levels.

Until the filing of this report, vote counting is underway in Damak, Mechingar and Arjundhara Municipalities, Jhapa; in Biratnagar Metropolitan City and Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality, Morang; in Dharan Sub Metropolitan, Sunsari; in Bhimdutta and Punarbas Municipalities, Kanchanpur and in Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City, Kailali.

A total of 15,038 people's representatives will be elected through the second phase of elections.
