KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 15

More than 200 men received tika from Anjali Maskey, popularly known as 'Anjali Didi,' in a mass Bhaitika program she organized at Kashthamandap, Basantapur in Kathmandu on the occasion of Bhaitika celebration today.

Most of those receiving tika from Anjali Didi do not have sisters.

During the occasion, Anjali Didi applied the seven-color tika on their foreheads and garlanded them with globe amaranth flowers.

She also mentioned that she offered Bhaitika so that those without sisters would not have to keep their foreheads without tika on this auspicious day, commemorating the love and respect between brothers and sisters.

Anjali Didi shared that more than 150 special mandaps were prepared at Kashthamandap for the mass Bhaitika ceremony. Mandap is the specially anointed place for seating brothers during Bhaitika rituals.

Anjali Didi has been organizing the mass Bhaitika program on the day of Bhaitika, the last day of the five-day Yamapanchak or Tihar festivities, for the last 25 years."
