A total of 2,492 drivers have been penalised for violating traffic rules within the past 24 hours, generating a revenue of Rs 504,000 for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 68 individuals were booked for driving under the influence of narcotic substances, 275 for illegal ride-sharing, 145 for violating traffic signals, and 183 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 96 drivers were penalised for failing to maintain lane discipline, 75 for honking in prohibited areas, and 59 for violating rules related to boarding and alighting passengers at designated locations.

An additional 1,413 individuals were penalised for various other traffic violations.
