Over 300,000 new students enrolled

Kathmandu, June 1

A total of 330,213 new students were enrolled in schools across the country as part of the government’s Student Enrolment Campaign.

However, as many as 71,283 children of school going age are still out of school. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, therefore, is thinking about launching the second phase of the campaign.

“As many children are still out of schools, it is necessary for the government to run the second phase of the Student Enrolment Campaign. We have started our preparations for the second phase of the campaign,” said Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel. A total of 404 people and organisations took guardianship of 731 students. The ministry also informed that intensive programme will be run in the Tarai region to enrol more students in schools.

Minister Pokharel informed that a task force had also been formed for the management of schools affiliated to foreign boards.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had launched campaign on April 15.
