KATHMANDU, JANUARY 18

Over 10,000 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Nepal in the past 24 hours, more than half of which were reported in Kathmandu valley alone.

As many as 5,549 samples tested in the three districts of the valley returned positive for infection when 8,730 were shown positive via PCR tests and 1,528 via Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test.

As many as 4,004 infections were logged in Kathmandu alone. Likewise, Lalitpur recorded 975 and Bhaktapur 570 cases.

After today's update, the nationwide active caseload has mounted close to 40,000 while that in Kathmandu valley stands at 24,576.

Kathmandu is, as in the past, the district with highest number of active caseloads (17,709).
