KATHMANDU, JUNE 22

Traffic police booked 2,076 vehicles for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, collecting more than Rs 1.53 million in fines.

According to Traffic Police Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, the violations included 88 cases of drunk driving, 93 cases of unauthorised ride-sharing, 117 traffic signal violations and 228 incidents of overspeeding.

Similarly, police recorded 129 cases of lane discipline violations, 57 cases of honking in prohibited zones, 90 cases of roadside parking and 88 cases of driving against one-way traffic regulations. Another 1,186 vehicles were penalised for various other traffic offences, he said.
