Pact to nab BK torture suspect
Lalitpur, March 30:
The Lalitpur District Administration Office today signed a three-point agreement with the representatives of the Dalit community to punish the perpetrators involved in torturing a dalit woman in Lalitpur accusing her of practicing witchcraft a few days ago.
The accord was signed in the presence of Minister for General Administration Pampha Bhusal and CA member Barsha Man Pun.
Earlier, the representatives of Dalit organisations had obstructed the functions of the DAO for some three hours.
Headmistress of Gadhi Bhanjyang Primary School Bimala Gole Lama and locals Pyutar VDC-7 had forced a local Dalit woman, Kalli Kumari BK, to eat her excreta in the public, accusing her of practising witchcraft.
According to Dalit leaders, the local administration agreed to book the culprits within a week, probe into the case of 18 people who were allegedly trying to free Lama and
her aides and maintain harmony among the people of Pyutar. BK’s family is living under the protection of National Women’s Commission.
Meanwhile, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), National Women Commission and National Dalit Commission have decided to jointly investigate the case.
