Panel formed to probe into Tri-Chandra firing

KATHMANDU: The government today formed a three-member team to probe into

Sunday’s firing at Tri-Chandra College.

Joint Attorney General Durga Bandhur Pokharel heads the committee while SP Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya and National Intelligence Department co-chairperson Nawaraj Thapa are the other members. Nabin Ghimire, spokesperson, Home Ministry, said the committee had seven days to submit its report.

Pradip Paudel, president, Nepal Students’ Union, said NSU had decided to suspend the ongoing stir from tomorrow. The union yesterday warned of dire consequences if the government did not book those involved in attacking and injuring its activists. It had accused the government of sheltering the guilty.

NSU central member Bhim Singh Gurung and student leader Ravi Thapa were injured in the incident.

On Sunday, ANNFSU and NSU activists clashed over a tender notice the college had published.

Nawaraj Silwal, SP at Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, said they had intensified search to nab the culprits.
