Panel to probe NAC aviation fuel spillage

KATHMANDU: The government on Monday formed a three-member committee to probe the incident of aviation fuel spillage from a Nepal Airlines aircraft at the Tribhuvan International Airport last week.

Former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Hari Bhakta Sharma, leads the committee whereas former CAAN Deputy Director General Suman Kumar Shrestha and Directorate General of Army Aviation's Colonel Laxmi Prasad Tumbahamphe are members of the team.

The committee has been asked to furnish the report within 15 days, according to Ghanashyam Upadhyaya, spokesperson at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

The panel has also been mandated to identify people responsible for the incident and recommend actions against them.

More than 6,000 litres of aviation turbine fuel had spilt during the maintenance of NAC’s Airbus aircraft on March 14.
