Panta rape and murder: Authorities seek expulsion of SP Bista

KATHMANDU: Police Headquarters in Kathmandu has recommended the government to relieve suspended Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilli Raj Bista of Kanchanpur District Police Office from his responsibility.

Authorities while seeking expulsion of erstwhile SP cited gross negligence in the investigation into Nirmala Panta's rape and murder case.

Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General of Police Sailesh Thapa Kshetri told the National News Agency (RSS) that Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal on October 15 had also sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking expulsion of Police Inspector Jagadish Bhatta.

Meanwhile, the MoHA is yet to strike a decision on the recommendations.
