Parliament Secretariat making preparation to hold meetings of HoR, National Assembly

With the successful conduct of provincial and parliamentary elections, the Parliament Secretariat said preparations were in full swing to hold meetings of House of Representatives and National Assembly.

Secretariat Spokesperson Bharatraj Gautam said as per the constitutional provision, a federal parliament secretariat was required for running the activities of the federal Parliament. Within this, there would be separate secretariats for the House of Representatives and National Assembly.

The halls for holding the meetings are getting a facelift with repair of furniture and gathering of other paraphernalia. Tender for the purchase of necessary equipment has also been issued, he added.

Gautam further said the meeting of the HoR should be summoned within a month and that of provincial assemblies within 20 days after final vote counting results are announced.

Gautam added that a building each for provincial assembly, parliamentary party office, secretariat building, offices for different parliamentary committees and a library for each provincial assembly are required.

The meeting of the Federal Assembly would be held in the Parliament building in Baneshwor while the venue for the meeting of National Assembly would be fixed after the government announces  provincial capitals.

According to him, that annual expenses for the operation of federal assembly would be Rs 2.55 billion.
