Parliament winter session prorogued

KATHMANDU: Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar on Wednesday announced that the winter session of the Parliament be prorogued today.

During the meeting today, Speaker Gharti informed lawmakers that President Bidya Devi Bhandari concluded the session as per recommendation from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The first session of the legislative body after promulgation of the new Constitution on September 20, 2015, the winter session had begun on October 2 last year.

During this session, the nation had elected new President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker following the new Constitution. Likewise, the first amendment to the Constitution was also endorsed during this session.

Total 41 meetings were held during the session.
