PHSC receives 30 complaints

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee has received 30 complaints against nominations for constitutional positions, justices of the Supreme Court and ambassadors, and the hearing process.

According to the Secretariat of the parliamentary panel, six complaints have been lodged against Acting Chief Justice Sushila Karki, who has been nominated for the position of Chief Justice, and two against Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav, who has been nominated for the post of Chief Election Commissioner. Similarly, three complaints have been lodged against newly nominated 11 Supreme Court justices, nine against 22 ambassadors and 10 regarding the hearing process.

Secretariat sources said the panel would first conduct hearings for Chief Justice and Chief Election Commissioner after formulating procedures for the same.

PHSC Chair Kul Bahadur Gurung said the panel distributed copies of the complaints to panel members. He said the panel’s meeting scheduled for Thursday would peruse the complaints lodged against ‘(Acting) Chief Justice and (Acting) Chief Election Commissioner.

When asked about the contents of the complaints, Gurung said he had not yet seen the contents of the complaints.
