KATHMANDU, APRIL 5
The Patan High Court has ordered the summoning of disputants in the case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who was previously convicted in a rape case by the Kathmandu District Court (KDC).
A division bench, comprising Chief Judge Nripadhwaj Niraula and Justice Krishna Ram Koirala, issued the order in response to a writ filed at the court seeking the overturning of the KDC's verdict.
On January 10, the Kathmandu District Court sentenced Lamichhane, found guilty in the rape case, to eight years in prison, along with a fine and compensation of Rs 500,000.
Lamichhane appealed the district court's decision to the high court. The High Court, on Friday, issued the order to summon both sides of the case for April 15.
