Pharping's teachers to root out illiteracy

KATHMANDU: Female teachers of Pharping VDC in Kathmandu have expressed their commitment to literate all the adult women in their locality who have been deprived of education due to various reasons.

They expressed their commitment during an interaction on 'role of women teachers in women education' organised by Shesh Narayan Women School in Pharping on Thursday.

A press statement issued here today by the school said hundreds of teachers from community school, institutional school and Guthi had participated in the programme.

During the interaction, women teachers said they would raise awareness by visiting each household as a campaign from February 13.

The statement further said that they have also decided to collect Rs 50 per month as donation to establish school in each of the villages where women folks have missed out their opportunity to go to school.

According to the statement, the female teachers are also announcing the southern side of Kathmandu as the illiteracy free area.
