PHSC hearing on two more ambassadorial nominees

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) on Wednesday morning carried out hearing on two more ambassadorial nominees.

The hearing was held on the nominations of Ramesh Prasad Khanal and Jhabindra Prasad Aryal today.

Khanal has been recommended for Germany and Aryal for Egypt.

The nominated duo are Joint-Secretaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently.

Presenting their respective agendas, the proposed ambassadors expressed their commitment to further strengthen and expand bilateral relationships between Nepal and their host countries as well as take the ties to a new height.

Speaking at the meeting today, Khanal pledged that he would put his efforts to bring in 50,000 tourists to Nepal from Germany during his tenure against the existing 10,000 annual mark.

The PHSC had carried out hearing on five of the nominees yesterday.

The next meeting would dwell on nomination of Lok Bahadur Thapa, ambassador designate for Belgium, tomorrow.

As many as 22 names recommended for diplomatic assignments are due to receive the House panel's approval for the appointment.
