PHSC to open complaints today

Kathmandu, July 4

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee has received 20 complaints against those recommended for various vital positions, including Chief Justice, Chief Election Commissioner, 11 Supreme Court justices and 22 ambassadors.

“The time for registering complaints ended today, and the committee is preparing to begin investigating the complaints at its meeting slated for tomorrow morning as per the working procedure set by PHSC,” said PHSC Secretary Dhruba Prasad Ghimire.

He added that as the complaints are yet to be sorted out, it cannot be said now which of the 35 candidates have complaints filed against them.

Since some complaints that were filed during previous hearings were found to be fake with the intention of defaming the recommended persons, the PHSC decided to open up all the complaints at its meeting together and disclose them after screening their reliability and validity, according to Ghimire.

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee will have to conduct a hearing for all 35 recommended names, and the hearings will be completed by the third week of July.
