Piilion rider killed, biker hurt in Suryabinayak tipper hit

KATHMANDU: A woman died while her husband sustained critical injuries when a tipper hit the motorbike they were riding on, in Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur along the Araniko Highway on Wednesday.

The deceased is Bimala Basnet (42) from Thulo Sirubari of Sindhupalchok district whereas her husband Ram Chandra (46) is undergoing treatment at the Madhyapur Hospital in Bhaktapur.

The tipper (Ba 4 Kha 6983) heading towards Kathmandu from Bhaktapur had hit the bike (Ba 79 Pa 703) heading towards the same direction at around 10:30 am today at the Suryabinayak Chok.

Both were rushed to the Madhyapur Hospital, which later referred Bimala to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj of Kathmandu for further treatment.

She had breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the TUTH few hours later.

Ram Chandra is a community forest campaigner and a district level leader of CPN-UML.

Meanwhile, police impounded the tipper and arrested its driver for further investigation.
