Plan to train all primary teachers by next year

Bhaktapur, August 28:

National Centre for Educational Development (NCED) will impart training to all primary teachers of government schools by next year, an NCED officer said today.

Speaking at the final day of a 10-day-long half-yearly evaluation workshop on Training of Teachers (TOT) project, Shiv Kumar Sapkota said the centre was working on a war-footing to train the teachers.

He said, “Till date, around 60,000 primary teachers have received training from NCED. Rest of the teachers will be trained by next year.”

The Asian Development Bank has provided Rs 1.5 billion for the TOT project, which was launched

in 2002.

Balananda Poudel, secretary of the Ministry of Education, called on the teachers use skills honed through the training to impart quality education to students.
