Plea to uphold rule of law

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) on Friday urged the government to provide peace and security in the country by maintaining rule of law.

Issuing a press release, the umbrella organisation of lawyers urged the government to provide justice to the people and punish criminals according to their crime. General secretary of the NBA Raman Kumar Shrestha demanded the government to punish the criminals involved in the killing of Khyati Shrestha and not to politicise such criminal offences.

“Since the public doubts the justice system due to the politicisation of such crimes and the state of impunity in the naiton, the government should bring the culprits to book as soon as possible and should be sensitive about the politicisation of such cases,” he added.

The NBA also urged the Constituent Assembly to enact a strong law to provide stern punishment to such criminals involved in such heinous crimes.
