KATHMANDU, JULY 21
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is all set to inaugurate the ninth National General Convention of Nepal Press Union (NPU) in Hetauda on Friday.
PM and Nepali Congress (NC) President Deuba will arrive here in between 9:00-9:30 am to inaugurate the national gathering of journalists of democratic stream, said NPU officiating general secretary Bhishma Raj Ojha.
The NPU will be holding its general convention at Royal Party Palace, Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati province on July 22-23. It will also be electing a 141-member central committee.
NC vice presidents Dhanaraj Gurung and Purna Bahadur Khadka and general secretaries Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa will also be here on the occasion.
According to general convention's local coordination committee joint-coordinator Girija Prasad Adhikari, hotels at Hetauda, Makwanpurgadhi, Amlekhgunj and Sarauha have been booked for visitors and a food stall is to be managed near the event venue.
Adhikari further said over 1,600 people including press union representatives and observers s are expected to join the event.
