PM directs police to create environment for elections

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the election is of utmost importance to institutionalise federal democratic republic, adding demands and aspirations of people with the state have increased, however, criminals and non political groups are trying to cash in this opportunity and resort to untoward activities.

Addressing a Police Inspector Basic Training 165th Batch Convocation at National Police Academy on Friday, the Prime Minister said that Nepal Police is at the forefront of implementating law and executive rights of the government, adding that the police graduates will utilize their knowledge, crafts and skills gained during the training to prevent the untoward activities.

Saying National Police  Aademy is active in producing professional and capable police personnel, Prime Minister Dahal praised the Nepal Police for its role in conducting the first round of  local polls  in a free, fair and fear-free environment, and also directed it to play a similar role in the second phase local, provincal and federal level elections as well.

He said he felt pleased to learn that the Nepal Police has upgraded the Police Inspector Basic Training to PG Diploma level in affiliation to the Tribhuvan University with the objective of modernising it and giving it the identity of international level education in recent days.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi urged police department to make police service more effective. He also directed the graduated police officers to make feasible environment for the citizens to avail of police service unbiased.

Inspector General of Nepal Police Prakash Aryal also urged the police officers to discharge their duties in a disciplined manner.
