PM Koirala again approaches Tharu Struggle Committee for talks

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has again approached the agitating Tharu Joint Struggle Committee to come to a negotiation table in the run-up to the promulgation of a new constitution.

In a letter sent to the Struggle Committee on Tuesday, Prime Minister Koirala urged the stirring side for talks to resolve the problems through dialogues and consultations, stating that the country is in the final stage of framing the new constitution through the Constituent Assembly (CA).

The Prime Minister in his letter noted that the government has been repeatedly urging all sides to come to hold dialogues while the country is promulgating the statute.

Reiterating the government’s seriousness to address the seven-point demands and issues put forth by the Committee, he pledged to resolve the problems through peaceful means.

All sides should make honest efforts to best reflect aspirations of the people of all sections of society in course of epochal democratic exercise, first of its kind, for promulgating constitution through the CA.

Terming the Prime Minister’s call for dialogues ‘positive’, the Struggle Committee Spokesperson and CA member Aman Lal Modi informed that further decision to this effect will be taken after holding the Committee’s meeting.
