KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address a meeting of the House of Representatives today.

It is expected that the PM will address the issue of anomalies on purchase deal of wide-body aircraft, for which a parliamentary sub-committee has suggested action against many officials including the incumbent Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Rabindra Adhikari.

The sub-committee formed under the Public Accounts Committee of the Federal Parliament to look into the anomalies in the wide-body aircraft purchase deal of Nepal Airlines Corporation concluded that there was a corruption of Rs 4.34 billion in the deal.

It has sought the suspension of 38 government officials found to be involved in the anomalies.

On Monday, the sub-panel had drafted a 35-page report, which concluded that there had been irregularities worth Rs 4.34 billion in the procurement of the Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

On January 1, lawmakers of the sub-panel recommended action against Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari.

Action has been recommended against tourism secretary Krishna Prasad Devkota, former tourism ministers Jeevan Bahadur Shahi and Jitendra Narayan Yadav, and chief of the civil aviation regulatory body Sanjeev Gautam, among others.

Likewise, immediate suspension has been sought for NAC General Manager Sugar Ratna Kansakar to facilitate investigation into the case.
