Kathmandu, December 24

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today appointed Prof Sudha Tripathi and Reader Dilliram Upreti as rector and registrar of the Tribhuvan University on the recommendation of Vice Chancellor Prof Tirtha Khaniya.

Upreti is close to CPN-UML, while Dr Tripathi is close to UCPN-M. Khaniya was earlier elected as a candidate of Nepali Congress.Earlier, the TU registrar was close to UCPN-Maoist while rector was close to Nepali Congress.

The duo was appointed after the tenure of former registrar and rector expired on December 11. Tripathi is a professor of Nepali while Upreti is a reader of economics.

The rector and registrar of the Tribhuvan University have a tenure of four years.
