KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed people's representatives at all levels to work actively and contribute to the illiteracy abolition campaign.

Speaking at the national convention of Rural Municipalities National Federation Nepal in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Oli said that with in two years no children should be deprived of schooling.

"I will enroll one girl child in a school during children enrollment campaign beginning on April 18, and I request all the people's representatives to join the campaign," the Prime Minister said.

If all people's representatives help enroll a child each, the campaign would become successful, he added. The Prime Minister also said that healthy and development-oriented change begins from the local level.

Chairs and Vice-chairs of 460 rural municipalities in the seven provinces are taking part in the three-day national convention. The convention will see deliberations on ways to make the local level prosperous and people-oriented, and end with the election of a new leadership of the federation.
