PM Oli hosts dinner in honour of Pakistani PM
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday hosted a dinner reception in honour of the visiting Prime of Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Abbasi is in Kathmandu on a two-day official visit.
At the meeting held at Hotel Yak and Yeti, matters relating to regional and bilateral interest were discussed.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli shared that political transition in Nepal had ended through the election process but the consolidation of democracy was yet to take place, according to the PM's chief political advisor Bishnu Rimal.
On matters relating to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), advisor Rimal said both prime ministers held a common view on taking the SAARC forum ahead as it was a common platform for all member countries and still significant. They also emphasised on resolving any issue of difference in SAARC through dialogue and discussion.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Oli responded to his Pakistani counterpart's invitation to visit Pakistan by saying that he would make the visit in an opportune time.
On the occasion, Pakistani Prime Minister Abbasi expressed happiness over the election of CPN-UML Chair as the Prime Minister and wished him a successful tenure.
Earlier, the two prime ministers held talks on different issues of mutual interests and concerns. The Pakistani PM is scheduled to call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari this morning at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas.
Prior to the meeting with the President, Abbasi and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal are scheduled to hold talks.
