KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 3

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli received Bhaitika from his sisters Bishnu Maya Dhakal, Kaushila Koirala, and Bishnu Oli at the auspicious hour today, as part of the Tihar festival.

The Prime Minister received the ceremonial tika from his three sisters at his official residence in Baluwatar, as stated by the Prime Minister's Private Secretariat.

The Bhaitika ritual involves a mark of seven colors placed on a vertical line of white rice flour paste on the forehead.

The Nepal Calendar Determination Committee set 11:37 a.m. as the most auspicious time for today's Bhaitika rituals; however, the Committee noted that the rites could be conducted throughout the day.

During Bhaitika, the final and most significant day of the five-day Yamapanchak, or Tihar festival-the second-largest festival in Nepal-sisters traditionally place tika on their brothers' foreheads and receive tika in return.
