KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 28

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged citizens to adopt precautionary measures against the natural disasters caused by persistent rainfall.

Currently in the USA for the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, PM Oli emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing disasters, stating that natural calamities pose a common challenge for all.

In a statement on social media, he expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property resulting from the incessant rainfall. Highlighting reports of damage from floods and landslides across the country, the Prime Minister communicated with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to gather information on the impacts of the rainfall.

According to PM Oli, Minister Lekhak informed him that disaster rescue teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

The Prime Minister expressed concern over delays in rescue efforts in certain areas and urged Chief District Officers in the affected districts to conduct rescue operations responsibly.

In light of meteorological predictions of continued rainfall, PM Oli called for citizens' cooperation with security personnel involved in rescue efforts and urged vigilance in areas prone to natural disasters.
