PM pledges support for fair by-elections

Kathmandu, March 24:

PM Puspha Kamal Dahal and chief election commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel today discussed about the preparations for the by- election scheduled for April 10.

According to the Election Commission, the duo talked about the security situation and implementation of code of conduct. Pokharel informed the PM about the preparations and sought government’s support to hold the polls in free and fair manner.

After the discussion, PM Dahal said, “This is the first election of the federal republic of Nepal so it should be peaceful and fair and government fully supports the commission.”

Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam and chief secretary Dr Bhoj Raj Ghimire were also present in the meeting. According to the EC, preparations for the by-election were almost over. The EC is introducing electronic voting machines in all six constituencies — Kanchanpur-4, Rolpa-2, and Kaski-1, Morang-5 and 7 and Dhanusha-5.
