PM Dahal to monitor progress of national pride projects
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that he would monitor the implementation status of national pride projects on his own.
Addressing a meeting of the National Development Problems Resolution Committee in Kathmandu on Monday, PM Dahal said that he would prepare a schedule for implementation of the projects and monitor their progress.
Insisting on the need to adopt a carrot and stick approach, Dahal also called line ministers to monitor and supervise the projects of their subordinate bodies regularly so as to complete them on time.
On the one hand, development projects encounter the problem of budgetary constraint while on the other hand capacity of the capital expenditure needs to be increased, said Dahal.
Underscoring the selection and implementation of development projects in line with the federal structure, Dahal stressed the need of seriousness on the part of authorities concerned, including ministers and secretaries, regarding the execution of development-related projects and works.
Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi, ministers, National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Min Bahadur Shrestha and Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi among others had presented their respective progress reports about the development projects in the meeting.
