PM told to visit Tarai to address agitators' concerns

KATHMANDU: Civil society leaders have urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to visit Tarai region to address demands of the agitating Madhesi parties.  As many as 47 leaders of civil society led by former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai met the Prime Minister this morning and told him to reach out to the Madhesi people so that the latter could feel addressed by the state.

They also urged PM Oli to make a diplomatic request to India in order to remove the blockade on the border points and subsequently ease supply of essentials goods.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had shared that the government was ready to resolve the Tarai problems through dialogues, in a meeting with the representatives of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) who reached PM’s Office to extend their congratulations to Oli.

Those meeting the PM today included rights activists Daman Nath Dhungana, Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Krishna Hachhethu, Bidyadhar Mallik, Tula Narayan Sah, Durga Sob, Malla K Sundar among others.
