KATHMANDU: Locals of Chabahil area in Kathmandu-7 on Monday morning obstructed the Ring Road protesting the authorities' negligence in renovating the road after digging it up for Melamchi Water Supply Project pipeline works.

Police resorted to the baton charge in a bid to resume the obstructed traffic. Some demonstrators survived minor injuries in the scuffle.

The protests had continued for around 90 minutes before police dispersed the mob at around 12:45 pm.

Vehicles had been diverted from Mitra Park and Chabahil Chok while locals continued the demonstration.

The Chabahil Chok-Mitrapark section of the Ring Road has turned muddy and dusty for last few days after the MWSP dug up pipelines and delayed filling up the holes while sporadic rains continued.
