Police open fire on abductors in Khusibun; 1 hurt, 2 held

KATHMANDU: Police on Saturday opened fire on a gang of alleged abductors in Khusibun of Kathmandu during their mission to release three victims from the suspects' hostage.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Crime Division injured one and arrested two other members of the gang in the encounter, SP Prakash Jung Karki told THT Online over phone.

Karki informed that police had swung into action after receiving a report of the abduction of three persons from Bauddha of the Capital a few days ago.

Karki informed that the victims were safely rescued from the abductors' clutches today itself.

The injured suspect has been identified as Durga Bahadur Tamang and he has been admitted to the Bir Hospital.

Likewise, police arrested Bir Bahadur Tamang and Sachin Khawas for their alleged involvement in the crime.

A revolver has been seized from their possession.

"We have been reported that the gang has six members," Karki said, "Therefore, we are looking for three others."

The police team had caught the abductors at around 3:15 pm in Khusibun Town Planning Area in Naya Bazaar of Kathmandu today.
