'Police failing to give security to UML cadres': Oli
KATHMANDU: KP Sharma Oli, the Chair of the main opposition CPN-UML accused the police of failing to intervene in incidents of physical assaults targeted towards his party cadres in various districts during UML's electioneering campaigns.
While launching audio/visual clips prepared by the party for the local level elections slated for May 14 and June 14, Oli said the government's failure to ensure rule of law had raised doubts about whether the elections would be held in free and fair manner.
He also urged the Election Commission to respond to such activities as per the law, instead of keeping 'mum' on the matter.
"Efforts are underway to drag the country towards chaos. Violent, unfair, irregular and chaotic activities are being promoted," he said, adding that the CPN-UML wants to move ahead in a peaceful and democratic way and urges all not to take it as its weaknesses."
The party chair also claimed that the party was competent enough to keep the history of sovereign Nepal intact.
