Political struggle is over now: Finance Minister

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that country's political movement has come to an end after the promulgation of federal democratic republic constitution, a dream of the Nepalis harboured since 1950.

At a programme organised in the Capital on Saturday by the Bhojpure Sewa Samaj, Minister Karki also said that the current government under the Nepali Congress leadership was committed to uplifting the country's economy and make the nation prosperous by maintaining political stability.

The Finance Minister also expressed serious concernĀ  over the huge gap in country's imports and exports. Karki also added that the country can be made prosperous through the use of water resources, agriculture and tourism. On the occasion, Minister Karki honoured ultra runner Mira Rai.

Likewise, former Finance Minister Shanker Koirala from Bhojpur and social worker of Solukhumbu Goma Sherpa were also feted.

Also speaking at the programme, former Finance Minister Koirala suggested the incumbent government for working for the cause of economic prosperity of the nation.

During the event, Japan's Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa, lawmakers Jayanti Rai, Taradevi Rai and Mohan Kumar Rai were also present.
