Poll panel gives three days for candidates to submit sample signatures

Kathmandu, June 9

The Election Commission has given three days for the parties, which missed the earlier deadline to submit sample signatures of their candidates for second phase of local level polls, to submit the signatures.

The EC also asked the parties to submit details along with names and sample signatures of their candidates and official letter of nomination of candidates for the second round of local-level elections.

EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma said an arrangement had been made for submission of details of name, ethnicity, position and sample of signatures of candidates within June 12.

A meeting of the EC held today decided that election candidates, who had already submitted their signatures, could submit the sample of their changed signatures within three days if they wished to do so.

Some 80 out of 113 political parties have registered with the EC for the second phase of civic polls . Of them, only 63 parties have submitted authorised signatures for polls.
