Pollution causing serious impact in skin health
KATHMANDU: Dermatologists have suggested people to beware of serious impact of growing dust pollution on the skin.
The suggestion comes in the context of observing the World Skin Health Day organised for the first time in Nepal by the Society of Dermatologist, Venereologists and Leprologists.
The dermatologists have urged people to consult the skin specialists if they have minor skin problems.
Associate Professor of the Kathmandu Medical College and Society member and senior dermatologist Dr Sabina Bhattarai said that 20-30 per cent of the patients visiting OPD at health institutions in Nepal suffers from skin diseases.
Similarly, consultant Dermatologist Professor Dr Dinesh Binod Pokharel said that environment pollution, non-hygienic food, rampant use of medicine are the main reasons behind the contamination of skin diseases.
The World Skin Health Day is celebrated on March 29 every year at the call of 'International League of Dermatology' with an objective of making people aware about skin disease.
