Lalitpur, May 11:
The animals at the Jawalakhel central zoo are going to have a cool-cool time this year. With enough swimming pools and natural shades constructed to relieve them from the scorching heat, zoo officials are confident they will be comfortable. “We have taken necessary precautions to protect the animals from the heat,” said director of the zoo, RK Shrestha. Swimming pools have been installed in various places at the zoo where the animals, except for the elephant, can go and get a refreshing dip. “Though the elephant cannot wallow in the pools, they are given timely baths,” he said. Assistant curator Ganesh Koirala, said, “We cannot provide them their natural habitat, but sufficient precautions have been taken to protect them from the heat this summer.”
